Ice with a little Snow

We have been trying to keep ourselves occupied during "Winter Storm 09". We have made chili, baked cookies, read lots of books and played, played, played! Daddy got to stay home yesterday with us. It has been fun. I love the opportunities God gives us to slow down and just have fun and enjoy each other! Thank you.

Here are some pics over the last couple of days:

Emily tasting snow
I just love this pic of her twirling in the snow
Cadon's excursion out with Belle this morning

Belle's first snow (she loves playing in it)

VERY unhappy at falling in the snow

Best Buds!

This is Emily re enacting the scene from Polar Express when the boy sticks his face in the snow trying to wake up. She quoted his lines as she did it.
Fun in our indoor tent. We have read many books under here the last few days.

Hope you are having fun too and staying warm!

One Bag of Trash...

I can't believe it! For the last two weeks we have only generated one bag of trash, and this my friends is a streak I want to keep going. Since we moved into our first home in Edmond, we have recycled what they would pick up on the curb. When we moved to our new house, we had to be pro active and take it to the recycle center, since they don't pick it up at the curb here. They let you recycle more at the center...cardboard being the biggest thing. Now, we don't throw away anything that can be recycled and we have reduced ourselves to one bag of trash. We have four tubs in the garage so when we go to the center we take the tubs to the appropriate container and dump it and go. We are in and out in 5 minutes or so. And I feel great about doing something so simple. I want to be a good steward of the world God has allowed me to enjoy. If you live in Edmond, go here if you want more info. It so easy!

Memory Lane

Today is a special day. It is a day not marked by special celebration but a smile and thankfulness. Seven years ago today Randon asked me to marry him. When I think back to that evening I have a huge smile on my face all over again. And when I think of where we are today, I praise God for his immense blessings on us. Our life hasn't always followed our plan, but it has followed HIS and I am thankful for that, because what He had in store was so much better. I am so blessed that God brought me Randon at the perfect time and that each day we fall more in love with each other and that he gave us Emily and Cadon to share our love with too. What an amazing God!

The Case of a really sore throat, part 2...

so apparently the universe decided I needed to truly empathize with my son after his surgery (see previous post) and it struck me with strep throat. I haven't had strep throat since I was a child, and this was the worst sickness I have had in a decade- SERIOUSLY!! There are some super bugs out there and I think this was one! Tuesday I suddenly had a scratchy sore throat, it wasn't that bad, but by that evening, I had chills and ached and swallowing was the worst pain ever. I went to bed at 7:30. I was so cold I had Randon bring in a extra quilt to go over the sheet, quilt and down comforter I was already under. CRAZY!!! Wednesday I woke up at 7:00 am feeling somewhat better, but by 9:30 the chills and aches hit again. I called the Dr and was going to be worked in, but as I got ready to go, I could hardly walk, my legs were jello. Randon rushed home and took care of me the rest of the afternoon. (Such a wonderful husband!!!)

I feel human again today. I can swallow without intense pain, and my tonsils are no longer bright red with (well I will leave all that out for the queasy stomachs... I am one of them).

Cadon is on antibiotics too to prevent getting this. I thought that would be horrible. Tonsillectomy with strep, I think not.

I am going to start being disinfecting women whenever I go anywhere. I don't think you can be to careful!

The case of a really sore throat!

Our little man had surgery on Tuesday. They put in tubes and took out tonsils and adenoids. I was very nervous about the whole thing and prayed for him to do well. I didn't know if I would be able to handle watching the pain I was told he could be in right after surgery. God is good and answered our prayers. He gave us an amazing ENT who did the surgery quickly and well. He slept all morning due to the pain medication, which was such a blessing because when he woke up, he was not in much pain at all. He started drinking and eating popsicles. Our ENT was going to keep us overnight, but since Cadon pulled out his own IV, was doing so well and asked to go home, he let us. Thank you to our friends and family who called and came by. It meant more than you know!

Waking up from a long sleep

Sister brought his two favorite characters in balloons! McQueen and Thomas! Thank you Emily.

Sister checking on her boy. Cadon was still sleeping it off here.

Cuddle time with mommy

Feeling good and ready to go home! He was a Superboy!
